Piedmont Baptist Church was started out of a burden from the Lord.  Pastor Mike and his wife had been praying for some time about where God would lead them.  They looked out west to start a church, but God kept closing the doors.  On August 20, 2001 God spoke to Pastor Mike’s heart from Philippians 4:9, “Those things which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.”  Upon reading that verse, Pastor Mike knew God wanted him to start a church in the Enochville area.

 

Upon receiving God’s direction, Pastor Mike and his wife Amy began searching for a place to start the church.  After looking at a few buildings with no results,  they felt that maybe God would want them to start the church at an Enochville Elementary School.  Mrs. Amy had already been teaching there for two years.  When they met with the principle about the idea of starting a church in the school, they were told no.  After a week of praying and asking for God to make a way, the decision was reversed.  The Lord was clearing a path for PBC.

 

The first service in the church was held on Sunday, October 4, 2001 due to an error in a local paper.  That morning, there were only eight people in attendance, but God was able to bless with a sweet service.  The next week was the week the church intended to start.  The chairs had been put out and prayer had been made for the service.  That morning the church had 45 people in attendance.  Pastor Mike preached on the cross.  A lady came forward and accepted Christ as her Savior.  What a great day!

 

PBC purchased its own property and facilities in 2003 at 5870 Wright Road.  They started with a small building which they outgrew and built a new sanctuary.  The new sanctuary was built in 2010-2011 with the first service being in May of 2011.  In 2022 the church was able to purchase Enochville Elementary School, where the church started.  In 2023 the church began having church events back at this property which is called the Family Life Campus, 925 N Enochville Avenue.  This church is still reaching people for Christ in the Enochville area.
